I. Shared vision of clinic operations with emphasis on “best practices” for clinic operations.

II. Open and consistent communication and discussion with clinic manager regarding clinic operations and support of all clinic staff, supervisors and manager.

• Ability to reward good performance and discipline poor performers.

• Willing to give positive as well as negative feedback to all clinic staff.

• Fosters a positive working environment between faculty and staff.

III. Ability to communicate effectively with physician providers in order to affect behavior change and institute new policies and procedures related to physician practice.
 
• Power to change policies and procedures to improve patient care and efficiency.
• Assists in resolving timely submission of physician’s reports and improve physicians’ poor performance.

 


IV. Interest in clinic billing issues and ability to communicate these issues with clinic faculty to ensure optimal revenue.


V. Once policies and procedures are decided, the ability to entrust daily operations to clinic manager, clinic staff supervisors and nursing supervisors.

• Clearly defines areas of responsibility and authority to clinic manager and supports decisions made by the clinic manager.
• Is the leader of the clinic and does not attempt to manage the clinic.
• Participative – yet a delegator, not micromanager.
