The Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is a national leader and innovator in patient care, education and research. Together our affiliated hospitals encompass a wealth of clinical material that allows us to provide the highest level of plastic surgical training and education.  The medical school provides outstanding faculty and physical resources supportive of our research activities.  Our nationally acclaimed faculty possess well-honed teaching skills and are known for the depth and breadth of their expertise spanning the full spectrum of plastic surgery. We foster a spirit of cooperation and camaraderie that proves an enjoyable and enriching educational experience designed to prepare residents for careers in either private practice or academic plastic surgery.  Our goal is to produce graduates who are independent problem solvers and future leaders of plastic surgery.

The next era in plastic surgery demands independence and only a self-standing department, like the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, will determine the course for plastic surgery leadership and education in the next millennium.  The future of plastic surgery is limited only by our imagination, creativity, and determination.  Our plans for the next decade are bold and built upon the highest standards where innovation and creativity flourish.  Our aspirations and goals remain high, and are achievable because of the undaunted commitment of our faculty, staff and the caliber of residents attracted to our program. On behalf of the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, I express my sincerest appreciation for your interest in our training.
