Welcome to the site for the Clinical Center for Liver Diseases. The Clinical Center is engaged in a variety of basic and clinical projects to improve treatments for patients with a variety of liver diseases, primarily viral hepatitis and acute liver failure. We perform clinical trials, testing new drugs for hepatitis B and C and acute liver failure. We are one of 10 sites for the HALT-C Trial, a large study focusing on maintenance therapy for patients with chronic hepatitis C who have failed previous treatments. We are also the central site for the Acute Liver Failure Study Group, now in its 8th year of operation. We hope you enjoy your visit.
The Clinical Center for Liver Diseases would like to congratulate Mamta Jain, M.D. on her being awarded a K23 award. The K23 is a 5-year career development award. She will be studying viral kinetics of Hepatitis C infection in mono- and co-infected patients. He-Jun Yuan, MD, PhD, a research fellow in the unit, has been awarded a Wikert Fellowship to continue his work until October 2006. His area of interest is viral quasispecies in hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
