The University Rehabilitation Services (URS) is the vocational rehabilitation facility operated through the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling. Counseling interns from the Rehabilitation Counseling Program work along side clinical staff members in providing counseling and assessment services to adult age individuals with disabilities.
Rehabilitation counseling espouses an inclusive, interdisciplinary, biopsychosocial approach toward empowering individuals who have a disability to accept responsibility, achieve greater independence, and exercise control over personal and vocational aspects of their lives. Rehabilitation counseling values the whole person and focuses on the individual's strengths and abilities, while helping the individual adjust to, and accommodate for, limitations.
