The Department of Plastic Surgery in conjunction with the UT Southwestern Center for Breast Care, offers the most complete and comprehensive breast health care. Mammograms and other tests are offered by the breast care center in order for the patient to have the best care available.
There are many new options for breast reconstruction for patients who have lost a breast(s) due to cancer or other disease. These options range from rebuilding the breast using muscle flaps from the back or abdomen, to using expanders and inserting an implant to nipple reconstruction. In the final stages, areola tattooing is performed by our licensed nurses at the clinic. Reconstructive techniques are also available for congenital breast deformities such as Poland's syndrome and male breast reduction (gynecomastia).

Cosmetic Surgery
Our board-certified* plastic surgeons offer both surgical and non-invasive cosmetic procedures. Using the latest advances in technology, they perform procedures that reshape the nose, enhance the breasts, sculpt the body and defy aging.
Patients have the opportunity to view their plastic surgeon’s conception of their results before any surgery is performed. Using the patient's preoperative photos and a computer program, an artist assists the plastic surgeon to create a simulated surgical view to better educate the patient.
If you would like additional information about a specific procedure, please visit the "Plastic Surgery Associates" link provided or you may schedule a consultation with one of our plastic surgery physicians by calling (214) 648-8495.

Reconstructive Surgery
Reconstructive surgery may be defined as surgery on abnormal parts in an attempt to restore a more normal appearance and function. The goal of reconstructive surgery is to restore form and function to body parts that have been injured through accident, disease or congenital defects. Injuries caused by burns can be lessened through tissue expansion surgery and other surgeries. Congenital defects such as cleft lip and palate can restore normal appearance and speech to a young child. Our board-certified plastic surgeons are trained in the specialty of hand surgery. One of the latest and most exciting advances in non-surgical procedures is BOTOX® Cosmetic. Otherwise known as Botulinum toxin, Botox is a neuromuscular blocking agent produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. Although the clostridium bacteria causes botulism, the BOTOX® extract does not. This extract is the purified, sterilized product from the bacteria.
BOTOX® is used for men and women to relax facial muscles which cause wrinkling in the brow and around the eyes. It can also be used to reshape the brow. The injections are most beneficial for the 30-50 year age group whose facial lines are due more to underlying muscle pull than to dermal elasticity.
If you would like additional information about this procedure, please visit the "Cosmetic Face" link provided. If you would like to schedule for a consultation with one of our plastic surgery physicians, please call (214) 648-8495.
