Transplantation Immunology is a division of the Department of Internal Medicine of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, TX. Our laboratories, which began operation in 1968, perform tissue typing, HLA antibody testing and offer immunologic services for organ and bone marrow transplant patients. We are pleased to celebrate 35 years of continued activities in research, teaching and laboratory practice.  The division operates two independent laboratories to better serve the needs of our patients. The Transplantation Laboratory works mainly for the University Kidney Transplantation Program at Parkland Memorial Hospital. The Histocompatibility Laboratory provides services for the University Programs in Transplantation of Heart, Lung, Liver and Bone Marrow/Stem Cells. Both laboratories are available 24 hours/7 days a week to accept samples from organ donors whenever they arrive. Our goal is to offer patient care of the highest possible quality. Development of new knowledge is the purpose of our research activities and we also teach Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. Our team of experts is available at any time for consultation regarding HLA matching, interpretation of crossmatching, work-up of sensitized recipients and difficult donor selection.
