GIM faculty contribute heavily to medical student and internal medicine residency education, hold numerous institutional undergraduate and graduate medical education leadership roles, and have received many teaching awards.
Medical Student Education: GIM physicians participate as mentors in the Medical Colleges Program, directors of the ICM and Clinical Clerkships, principal directors of the Reynolds Foundation-UT Southwestern Aging and Geriatrics Education Program (SAGE), Associate Deans, among others.
Residency Education: GIM physicians precept in the Parkland Center for Internal Medicine (PCIM) clinic; attend on Parkland wards, medical consultation service, lipid clinic, ambulatory block rotation; serve as program director and associate program director.
Additional Teaching Sites: GIM physicians precept on inpatient wards at University Hospital St. Paul building, University Hospital Zale Lipshy Building, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and in the Palliative Care clinic and the Geriatrics Clinic
Ambulatory Morning Reports for Residents: GIM physicians design and lead the various ambulatory morning reports.
