In accordance with Policy Number 203, all facilities/laboratories that house stock chemicals must maintain an active real-time inventory of all hazardous chemicals stored within the defined locations. The Chematix Chemical Inventory Management System (CIMS) provides an online platform where by the Principal Investigator or Laboratory Manager/Director and/or their subordinates can enter information on and barcode the hazardous chemicals located in UT Southwestern facilities under their direct control The CIMS will track the original chemical containers volume or mass, the chemical(s) identification, expiration dates and any associated hazards. The CIMS software and database will be monitored by Environmental Health and Safety, who maintains all administrative rights to this system.
