Central Application Service for
Physician Assistants
The Physician Assistant Education Association announced the launch of the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA), the first such service for the physician assistant profession. CASPA offers PA program applicants a convenient, state-of-the-art, Web-based application service that will allow applicants to apply to any number of participating PA educational programs by completing a single application. Medical Spanish Curriculum
The Department offers a longitudinal, three semester Medical Spanish curriculum, which began with the Class of 2003. Medical Spanish is taught by Ms. Cristina González, MA, who joined the faculty in August 2000.

- Tina Kaufman, PhD, PA-C, alumnus of the class of 1996, and one of our adjunct faculty, won the Parkland Hospital PA of the Year Award presented on National PA Day, October 6, 2002
- Ann Teal, PA-C, an alumnus of the class of 1999, is the chair of the Student Affairs Committee for TAPA
National Leadership Continues
- Dr. Gene Jones, Professor and Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, is active in the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Physician Assistant Education Association, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
In 2005, Dr. Jones was named Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physician Assistant Education, the official journal of the Physician Assistant Education Association.
