Overview of Curriculum

The curriculum for the Department begins near the end of May each year. The first didactic semester concentrates on the basic sciences and professional practice issues. It is followed in the fall semester with emphasis on basic patient evaluation skills coupled with disease process identification, pharmacology, and pathology.

The spring and following summer semesters are a continuation of these classes with the addition of health promotion/disease prevention, healthcare research and psychiatry. Instruction in Medical Spanish is included in three of four didactic semesters.

Upon successful completion of the didactic curriculum, students advance to the clinical phase of the training. Each student will complete all of the rotations during the fifteen month clinical phase. The order of rotations will vary for each student.
