Program Requirements

  • Grade of "C" or higher in the following required courses:
    • 4 hours Anatomy *
    • 4 hours Physiology *
    • 3 hours Genetics
    • 8 hours General Chemistry *
    • 4 hours Organic Chemistry *
    • 4 hours Microbiology *
    • 3 hours Psychology
    • 3 hours Math (College Algebra or higher)
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with no minimum score requirement
  • Minimum of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution prior to matriculation
  • A recommended minimum of a 3.0 science and a 3.0 overall grade point average
  • Recommended professional or "hands-on" health care experience
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Applications for admissions completed by October 1 of the year preceding class commencement in May - CASPA online application 
     

      * Science courses must be for science majors and include a laboratory

  • Multiple mini interview for most competitive applicants

 


Important Dates to Remember

  • GRE score before October 1.  The GRE code for The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is 6686.
  • CASPA application by October 1 
  • Prerequisite coursework by December 31 of year of application
  • Fall transcripts by February 1
  • The upcoming class will begin their PA studies on Tuesday, May 26, 2009
