Yes. A nationwide shortage of clinical laboratory personnel exists now!  The the job market for our graduates is currently excellent.

What kind of salaries can graduates from the medical technology program expect to earn?

In the Dallas area, newly certified medical technologists are currently earning between $38,000 and $43,000 per year. Differentials for second or third shifts, weekends, and of course experience will increase what you earn.

Do medical technologists take a licensing examination in the state of Texas?

Texas clinical laboratory personnel are currently not required to be licensed or certified.  At present, only ten U.S. states require clinical laboratory personnel to be licensed.  Eligibility for licensure in some states is nationally recognized certification; other states mandate a state examination.  The state of California requires a specific length of clinical training.
