The UT Soutwestern Medical Center, in cooperation with Blood Systems Laboratories, offers the Blood Bank Technology Program online for either academic credit or continuing education credit. The program is now available to all students in the online format and is hosted by the UT TeleCampus. Graduates of the program are awarded a post-baccalaureate certificate in blood bank technology (if enrolled for academic credit) or a continuing education certificate (if enrolled for continuing education). Graduates are eligible to take the certification examination for Specialist in Blood Bank Technology administered by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Accreditation The Blood Bank Technology Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Specialist in Blood Bank Technology Programs.
