This decision is usually based on faculty dedication to resident teaching and interaction with the residents.  It can only be given to a faculty member every five years.

LAYCOCK SNYDER TEACHING AWARD
The graduating Chief Residents of 1995 wished to honor Drs. Royce Laycock and William Snyder, surgical faculty who epitomize the scholar surgeon.  To do so, they established the Laycock-Snyder Teaching Award with Drs. Laycock and Snyder the first recipients. The recipient is chosen each year by the chief residents and is a faculty member who is the ultimate surgeon and the ultimate teacher.  Award can only be given to a faculty member every five years.
