THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SOUTHWESTERN MEDICAL CENTER AT DALLAS
BARIATRIC/ADVANCED LAPAROSCOPIC SURGEON
DIVISION OF GI ENDOCRINE SURGERY

The Department of Surgery, Division of Gastrointestinal and Endocrine Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, is recruiting a full-time academic surgeon with special interest and/or training in bariatric surgery.  Experience in minimally invasive approaches to obesity or advanced laparoscopic training is preferred, but not required.  Duties will include patient care in the inpatient and outpatient setting of a large university teaching hospital.  A commitment to resident and medical student education is essential.  The salary and academic rank of this position will depend upon experience and qualifications.  Candidates should have an excellent academic background and be board eligible/certified in general surgery.  A Texas medical license is required.

The Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center currently has a large regionally and nationally recognized program for the surgical treatment of obesity.  The number of both open abdominal and minimally invasive procedures is growing.  The program includes educational activities involving general surgery residents, bariatric clinical and research fellows, and continuing medical education for surgeons in practice.  The program, a part of the Division of Gastrointestinal and Endocrine Surgery, is a significant participant in the Southwestern Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery (SCMIS).  The goals of SCMIS include development of novel, innovative approaches to the surgical problems, introduction and application of these technologies in the clinical arena, and education of both training and practicing surgeons in advanced laparoscopic skills.

A letter outlining surgical, clinical, teaching and research background, a complete Curriculum Vitae and the names and address of five (5) references should be mailed to:
