Features in CancerGene 5

  • The BayesMendel models, BRCAPRO, MMRpro, and PancPro are run as a component of the R-based BayesMendel package.  These models calculate the probability of mutation in BRCA1, BRCA2, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, and a hypothetical pancreas cancer susceptibility gene.  They also calculate the probability of developing breast, ovarian, colorectal, endometrial, and pancreas cancer.
  • Penetrance functions for BayesMendel models are updated regularly.
  • Mutation testing information can be entered for BRCA1, BRCA2, MLH1, and MSH2, and MSH6.
  • Information on Microsatellite Instability (MSI) testing can be captured for each individual.
  • Breast cancer biomarker information can be entered for each breast cancer.  This information is incorporated into the BRCA gene mutation calculation.
  • All of the parameters used by the BayesMendel models can be set by the user.
  • Gail and Claus models are included.
  • Family history information entry is simplified using shortcut keys and a redesigned interface.
  • CaGene5 users can rerun all families stored in prior versions of the CaGene database with the click of a button.
