Malpractice Insurance
Malpractice coverage is provided by participating hospitals for all house officers. The incidence of malpractice suits in Dallas has been relatively low compared to the remaining portion of the United States and particularly low for those individuals associated with teaching institutions.

Hospitalization and Life Insurance
Group hospitalization insurance and long-term disability insurance is currently provided to all house officers by Parkland Health and Hospital System through a self-insurance group plan. Dependent coverage (spouse and children) is available. All premiums are deducted from the monthly paycheck. Coverage remains with the same carrier at all times.

A group life plan is also provided at no expense to contracted, remunerated members of the Parkland house staff.
