Alzheimer's disease steals the mind and leaves heartbreak behind

The Alzheimer's Disease Center at UT Southwestern is one of only 32 special centers in the United States to receive financial support from the National Institutes of Health. Private funding provided by individuals and the Friends of the Alzheimer's Disease Center helps launch innovative research projects that are not yet part of the government program.

Newly developed diagnostic techniques allow UT Southwestern physicians to diagnose Alzheimer's disease with more than 90 percent accuracy. Better understanding of the disease will lead to more successful therapies for patients in North Texas and throughout the world.

The Friends of the Alzheimer's Disease Center are dedicated to promoting awareness of the illness and raising funds for research projects at UT Southwestern. Annual contributions of $500 provide for membership in the Friends, but larger gifts to support the Center are appreciated.  Members receive the Alzheimer's Disease Center Newsletter and are invited to attend educational programs featuring local and national medical experts.  One hundred percent of membership contriubtions directly support Alzheimer's research at UT Southwestern in the form of a grant to a promising young faculty member studying Alzheimer's or related diseases.
