The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We will no longer take applications outside of this system. UT Southwestern has one family medicine urban track located at the Parkland Family Medicine Clinic. Program Criteria

Thank you for inquiring about The University of Texas Southwestern Family Medicine Residency Program.

The following is a list of criteria that must be met in order to be eligible to interview with our program. Because of the high volume of applicants to our program, we follow these criteria strictly.

1. Have a valid ECFMG certificate at the time of interview (if applicable).
2. Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or have a Greencard. We do not sponsor Visa’s.
3. Pass USMLE steps I & II within two attempts. No score requirements.
4. Graduated from medical school within the last 5 years.
5. Applications are accepted ONLY through ERAS. No paper applications are accepted. Application deadline is December 1st.
6. U.S. clinical experience is not necessary for the application process.
7. Must be eligible for Texas licensure upon completion of the residency program. means your school MUST be listed on the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners list of approved schools. If your school is not on this list you will not be invited for an interview. Check for your school at the
