Thank you for inquiring about The University of Texas Southwestern Family Medicine Residency Program. 

  • Parkland's general requirements for residents can be found here.

The following is a list of our program criteria.

  1. Applications are accepted through ERAS only beginning on September 1st and the deadline is on December 1st.
  2. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.  We do not sponsor Visas
  3. Pass COMLEX or USMLE steps I & II within one attempt with a score of 80 or better.
  4. Graduated from medical school within the last 3 years and have recent U.S. Clinical experience. 
  5. Must be eligible for a Texas License upon the completion of residency and school MUST be listed on the Texas Medical Board’s list of Medical Schools with “Substantial Equivalence”.
