Currently, we have several clinical trials in progress.  Please contact our Clinical Research Coordinator, Mary Delira, RN, BSN, at 214-645-7728 for information about current and upcoming clinical trials in cardiothoracic surgery.

Current clinical trials:

  • Evaluation of the Heartware LVAD system for the treatment of advanced heart failure.
  • Management of excessive bleeding following cardiopulmonary bypass:  A pilot feasibility study
  • Chronic Rejection Study:  Lung Transplant
  • Effect of Acadesine on clinically significant adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in high-risk subjects undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery.  
  • Interagency registry of mechanically assisted circulatory support.
  • Omega-3 Fatty acids for prevention of post-operative atrial fibrillation. 
  • Thymectomy for patients with myasthenia gravis - a 10 year surgical analysis.
  • Clinical trial of the On-X valve using low dose anticoagulation
  • Mitral valve surgery study
  • Multi-center study evaluating the efficacy, immunogenicity, and safety of a single dose of a staphylococcus aureus vaccine in adult patients scheduled for cardiothoracic surgery.
