Treating Transitional Cell Cancer of the Kidney or Ureter Transitional cell cancer of the kidney or ureter often can be treated laparoscopically or endoscopically. Through endoscopy -- in which a scope and instrumentation are inserted through the ureter, a tumor of the kidney or ureter can be biopsied or ablated with a laser. Furthermore, indeterminate conditions such as renal cysts or retroperitoneal fibrosis are amenable to minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopy.
