The Mineral Metabolism Center provides comprehensive metabolic evaluation and medical therapy for recurrent stone formers. Many of the diagnostic protocols and medical treatments for stone prevention in use worldwide were developed at UT Southwestern, under the direction of Dr. Charles Pak, one of the foremost authorities in the medical treatment of stone disease. Over 500 patients are seen annually in the Center. Consequently, we are in a unique position to recruit patients for trials evaluating drug and dietary therapies for stone prevention.
