Students applying for entrance to the EMT/Paramedic Certificate Program must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 by course completion date
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalency
  • Achievement of minimum scores on reading comprehension and mathematics assessment testing
  • Submission of a complete application packet
  • Completed Hepatitis B series vaccination (all 3 shots)

Students applying for Paramedic Certification must meet these additional requirements:

  • Completion of EMT Course
  • Transcripted Anatomy/Physiology coursework or successful completion of Anatomy/Physiology competency exam

Employer Recommended Guidelines:

The following are recommended guidelines for employer's selection of EMT and Paramedic students. The student should:

  • Have the desire and willingness to provide emergency medical care in a wide variety of situations.               
  • Have the ability to relate and communicate well with people.
  • Have a solid background in reading skills, math skills, and study habits.                                      
  • Have the ability to use deductive thinking skills and act quickly and independently in stressful emergency situations.
