The Neurophysiology Laboratory, directed by Dr. Christopher Sinton, supports the Division’s efforts to explore the neural mechanisms of Gulf War syndrome.

Research being conducted by the Neurophysiology laboratory includes causative factors for sleep disorders, the physiology and pharmacology of sleep mechanisms, the possible role of stress in opening the blood-brain barrier to pyridostigmine and other brain toxins, factors that could lead to brain cell damage in deep brain structures, and protection from organophosphate poisons in future military deployments.
