CLINIC NURSES - Radiation Oncology
Cancer attacks patients on several fronts with physical, emotional, psychological, and economic implications. Radiation oncology nurses serve to bring help in each of these areas given their training and passion for providing holistic cancer care. While no one health care provider can assist with all that a cancer patient needs, nurses can specialize in the coordination of care. With medical training in the pathology and physiology of both cancer and its treatments, nurses understand the physical demands experienced by the patient. The nurses at Moncrief Radiation Oncology Center get to know the patients thoroughly in regards to issues related to diagnosis and to economic and social realities pertinent to specific treatment. Nurses know how to integrate a variety of cancer care services on behalf of the patients and therefore serve as a first point of contact for patients and families.
The mission of the Moncrief Radiation Oncology Center nursing staff is to:
-
Provide expert and compassionate nursing care for our patients.
-
Work in conjunction with all disciplines employed in the entire treatment to move toward holistic and family oriented care.
-
Strive for excellence in promoting overall health and wellness focusing on the patient and not the technology.
The nursing department at the Moncrief Radiation Oncology Center has a unique range of education and experience. Registered nurses with college training and practical experience direct the care plan. They are assisted by licensed vocational nurses and medical assistants as all work together to integrate the care plan. All of these individuals are trained, experienced and dedicated to the patients we treat.
