Psychiatry Residents Organization (PRO) The Psychiatry Residents Organization (PRO) was formed in 1981 to: 1. Promote camaraderie among the residents as a group and provide support for individual residents; PRO includes all full-time and part-time psychiatry residents. Officers are elected annually and luncheon meetings are held weekly, immediately after Grand Rounds. Issues discussed at the PRO meetings and other pertinent information are forwarded weekly via e-mail to all residents. In order to enhance communication between residents and faculty/administration, both the chairman and the residency training director come regularly to PRO meetings to make announcements, field questions, and address current issues. Speakers are invited regularly to discuss and/or present specific topics. In addition to PRO meeting lunches, PRO has also organized lunches for all residents on core didactic day (Tuesdays) to facilitate resident engagement at a time when all are in the main departmental offices. PRO also organizes a number of social and educational events for its members throughout the year.
