Dr. Kevan Namazi, is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Gerontology. His interests are in design, development, staffing, programming and the operation of long-term care facilities, assisted living centers, and personal care home facilities. Dr. Namazi has carried out many research studies in such settings and has contributed to the field of aging by demonstrating how physical environment can influence the quality of care for elderly persons.
Dr. Charles McConnel is a health care economist with training in epidemiology. His research interests include health service utilization by the elderly, epidemiology of chronic disease, emergency medical services, and health workforce issues. His current research is focused on health care planning for the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas and the cost-effectiveness of osteoporosis screening
Dr. Rosemary Wilson teaches courses in social gerontology, aging policies and programs, and health and aging. Research interests include health care and health services utilization, including care for persons with dementia. She is a graduate of Duke University where she received her specialized training in gerontology at the Duke University Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development.
Ms. Madyun, Senior Administrative Staff Assistant, joined the Department of Gerontology from the Department of Surgery in December 1999. She is a 1986 graduate of UT Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. Ms. Madyun is the department administrator
