Before your P.E.T. Scan
You will be asked not to eat or drink anything (except water) for four hours before your scan. You can expect to be at The P.E.T. Facility for 2 to 3 hours. It is very important for patients to keep their appointments and to arrive on time. Patients will need to obtain and bring any prior CT scans, MRI scan, and PET scans (if performed elsewhere) at the time of your appointment.
Someone from The Positron Imaging Facility will call on the day before the scan is to be performed to go over the instructions for the exam, including which medicines may be taken.
Important information:
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or think that you might be, or if you are a nursing mother
- Tell your doctor if you are a diabetic
- Take all prescribed medication on the day of the exam unless you were instructed not to do so
