The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not Eureka! (I found it!) but rather, "hmm.... that's funny...." Isaac Asimov
Our department enjoys an outstanding reputation for research evidenced by the many peer reviewed articles published each year by our faculty and residents. Available abstracts for 2005-07 and links to the related journals are in the Abstract Library
There is a monthly gathering of faculty and resident researchers who bring research ideas to the table for open discussion and project development. Also encouraged is oral presentation rehearsal before a friendly audience with input from same. This is called the Works in Progress group and it meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the department conference room at 5. p.m. For more information please contact Dr. Debra Weinberger.
Please note that meeting date is subject to change from time to time.
To ensure the department's research projects are supported by essential resources and that they move through the entire research process with as few barriers as possible our Research Committee reviews all projects prior to submission to the IRB and/or the Animal Care and Use committee. All projects require an Otolaryngology Departmental Resources Allocation Form be presented at the Research Committee's regularly scheduled meetings, the third Tuesday of each month (subject to change from time to time). This committee also completes a quarterly review of select projects for regulatory compliance. Contact senior administrative assistant for research Kay Hale for committee time and date changes.
