The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center frequently has visitors from all over the world and welcomes them. The maximum duration that visitors are permitted to stay is one year. You should be aware that because of licensing issues, visitors cannot be permitted to directly care for patients. However, they are welcome to observe surgery at any of our facilities, which include Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas Children's Medical Center, and the Zale-Lipshy University Medical Center Hospital. We also hope that they will attend our educational seminars during their stay.

We cannot provide financial assistance during your stay, so you must provide this for yourself. Housing facilities that the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center has contracted at reduced rates for visitors are listed under Hotel Accommodations (see Quick Links - right). Please phone/fax them directly to arrange housing.

For those wishing to stay an extended period, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center has some furnished apartments that can be rented.

For those wishing to visit, please download, complete and send the Extern_Application to Dr. Ellis so that we can determine whether the dates requested are available. Any other forms that must be completed and returned in advance of your arrival will be sent to you if needed by our University. Selection of foreign visitors is made by the OMS faculty based on availability of positions and the specific interests of the applicants. Not all applicants are selected.  

For foreign visitors, it is imperative that you contact us far in advance of your visit.  Our International Affairs Office at UT Southwestern has to approve all foreign visitors that require visa support.
