The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has been a vital part of the medical school and Parkland Memorial Hospital since 1950, and is the corporate head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Parkland and affiliated hospitals.  The training program culminates in the awarding of a medical degree through Southwestern Medical School, a one-year general surgery internship, and a residency that meets all the requirements of the accreditation process in the specialty.

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery remains the corporate head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Zale Lipshy University Hospital, St. Paul Medical Center, Dallas Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, John Peter Smith Hospital,  Children's Medical Center Dallas, and Presbyterian Hospital. This includes approximately 24 residents and a varying number of fellows.

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program is considered one of the premier training experiences of the specialty. This is primarily because of the unique opportunities afforded by Parkland Memorial Hospital and our nationally acclaimed faculty.
