One of the roles of the Institutional Review Board is to monitor ongoing research to assure the protection of human research participants. The IRB members and staff work in collaboration with investigators, key study personnel, and other institutional oversight bodies to assess compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and accepted practices. Members of the IRB staff conduct routine quality assurance reviews and also perform “for cause” audits. "For cause" audits are usually in response to allegations of potential non-compliance. To request a quality assurance review or to report potential non-compliance, please contact the IRB office at (214) 648-3680.
