The IRB Listserv provides subscribers with important IRB announcements, information related to human subject research procedures and guidance, regulatory updates, and training opportunities. The Listserv is not a discussion forum, and only those announcements deemed important to all those involved in human subject research will be distributed.
Your name and participation in this Listserv will not be made public to search engines, such as Google or Yahoo.
We highly recommend that you choose to participate in this efficient method of communication. Available to faculty, staff, students and the research community. To subscribe, click here.

Parkland EPIC and RESEARCH
The research optimization of Parkland EPIC will not take place until later in 2009. Planning for that will include faculty researchers and their staff as delegated. For researchers used to making a research note in the paper medical record, the inpatient and outpatient visit and references to research treatment documentation should be completed depending on your role, current access and site of visit. Not all the outpatient sites are live yet.
Parkland's EMR is in a hybrid state.
1. Parkland EPIC access, refer to the IRB Listserv notice prior to PHHS go-live on 4/28.
2. Hybrid medical record legend and training is available at link below on Parkland Intranet:
3. For training, click on the purple "Training" text in header links
These are the directions and content about hybrid state documentation from PHHS HIM

Subject: How to locate medical record items after EMR Go-Live
As online documentation is introduced today, Parkland will enter what is referred to a Hybrid Record State. As of this date, printing of most online documentation will be discontinued, since online access and training was accomplished in this project. There will still be documentation, however, that exists only on paper. This will be accessed in the paper record the same way it has been historically.
Two tools have been posted on the Intranet to help guide you in finding documentation in our future state. The first is the Hybrid Medical Record Legend. It includes a high level road map of where certain categories of documentation will now live - electronic or paper. The second tool is a database that houses all pre-existing medical record forms, and where they can be found in the record, where they can be found in Epic, or whether there are multiple scenarios in transition for the particular form. As you access this second link, a search screen will allow you to narrow the exact form in question or provide a list.
Both tools can be found on the EMR Information link from the Parkland Intranet home page, under Go-Live Documentation > Medical Record Locator Tools, or by using the following links:
