Admission Requirements for Bachelors degree in Clinical Nutrition

  • Complete all admission requirements prior to enrollment

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5

  • Personal interview required with the application

  • 3 letters of recommendation

  • Complete the online application and submit $10 fee

  • Personal statement of career goals

  • Be able to perform Essential Functions (pdf document page 21)

  • Official transcripts from all schools attended

  • International Applicants information. Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a transcript evaluation agency. TOEFL required. (pdf document page 20)

Application deadline is April 1st each year for starting in the fall semester. Early application is recommended. If accepted, all science prerequisites must be complete upon enrollment with a grade of "C" or higher.

Key Facts

The Coordinated Program in Clinical Dietetics is a bachelor degree program

  • Students complete the required course work and the required 900 hours of supervised practice for eligibility to take the national registration examination for dietitians. 

  • The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education (CADE)

  • Upon graduation, students are immediately eligible to take the national registration examination and to become active members of the American Dietetic Association

  • The program has a strong emphasis in clinical nutrition for medical nutrition therapy

  • Students attend rotations in a variety of settings including teaching hospitals associated with UT Southwestern Medical Center, community based clinics, and wellness centers.

Applications received by April 1st will be given first priority.  The program typically accepts 16 students one time per year.  The program starts in the Fall semester.  Notice of acceptance will be sent in May or June.
