Clinical Nutrition Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships are typically awarded based on:

Submission materials typically include:

  • overall GPA
  • community service
  • professional leadership qualities
  • recommendations of the program faculty
  • an application
  • letters of recommendation
  • transcripts of academic work
  • by a specific deadline

We encourage students to apply for any of the available scholarships listed below. Many scholarships go un-awarded due to lack of applicants.  Students who are not eligible for scholarships may apply for financial assistance through the UT Southwestern Financial Aid Office.

  1. Clinical Nutrition Alumni and Faculty Scholarship is an endowed scholarship for a newly admitted student accepted for regular enrollment for Fall semester in the Coordinated Program in Clinical Dietetics.
    - Award Amount: $500
    - Application information is sent to incoming class; Application deadline: July 1
    - Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.2 and evidence of: Outstanding academic performance, potential to become an outstanding dietetic professional, significant volunteer service, involvement in school, community and professional activities.

  2. The American Dietetic Association and the Texas Dietetic Association award scholarships range from $100 - $2,000 each year.  Students must submit a complete application to be considered.  Click on the links below to get an application.
    American Dietetic Association (ADA) Scholarships
    - Must be ADA members.
    - Applications are usually due in late January or early February.
    Texas Dietetic Association Scholarships
    - Must be ADA member by at least January 31 of year of application and must be a Texas resident. 
    - Applications are usually due in February or March.

  3. Association of Schools of Allied Health (AH) Professions CampusAlliedHealth Scholarship Fund supports students who are enrolled in a career-entry-level, degree-granting program leading to an associate, baccalaureate, master, or doctoral degree in an allied health profession.  Special consideration given to master’s and doctoral program enrollees interested in becoming AH faculty as a career.
    - Award Amount: $1,500
    - AH students who have completed at least one term at an ASAHP member institution
    - Number of recipients: 6 annually
    - Deadlines: October 15, February 15, April 15, June 15, and August 15
  1. Pearson Benjamin Cummings Allied Health Student Scholarship offers five awards of $1,000 each to students currently enrolled in a course in Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) or microbiology or to any student who has successfully completed an A&P or microbiology course in the past two years. (Requires signature of instructor who taught course.)

Various scholarship opportunities may be available to students coming in with specific experience in the dietetics profession and/or may be made by a nomination from a faculty member:
