THE UT SOUTHWESTERN / PARKLAND HOSPITAL / CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS

UT Southwestern Medical Center - Although a “young” institution (founded in Dallas in 1943), UT Southwestern has enjoyed enormous growth in both quality and size. UT Southwestern is proud of four Nobel prizes for current members of its faculty, 12 members of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences, rapid growth in size, and the generosity of donors who have given more than $100 million to UT Southwestern during the last five years. Our institution is also known for its long tradition of excellence and strong commitment to clinical training as exemplified by superior performance of residents as a group on the Internal Medicine or Pediatrics certifying exams when compared to other training programs nationwide.

Parkland Health and Hospital System - Parkland Hospital, a 944-bed facility, enjoys robust tax support from the Dallas community and is very fortunate to have visionary leadership, making it one of the most successful public hospitals in the country.  Access to advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and procedures is excellent.  Most visitors to Parkland find it little different from many private hospitals.  All attending physicians at Parkland are required to be faculty members at UT Southwestern and UT Southwestern agrees to fully staff Parkland.  This long-term relationship has generated a highly rewarding environment; balancing missions of community service, teaching and scholarly research.

Children’s Medical Center of Dallas - Children’s is a 322-bed facility, which also resides on the campus shared by UT Southwestern and Parkland Memorial Hospital.  Its clinics and inpatient services serve a wide diversity of patients under the care of attending physicians who are either on the full-time faculty at UT Southwestern or on the part-time faculty in private practice.
