On Campus

The Student Activities staff, housed in the Student Center sponsors fun, stress-relieving activities for students, faculty and staff.  Special events, programs, and entertainment are scheduled throughout the year.  These include Oktoberfest, selected professional football and basketball games, sports/health classes, concerts, socials and more.  For upcoming University Activities events, check their web site or the University Activities bulletin board near the Student Store or the Center Times newspaper.

Off Campus

The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex has an abundant variety of recreational and cultural activities and entertainment.  You will receive information on some of these during your check-in visit at the International Office.  The local newspapers, radio and television stations regularly advertise community events such as festivals, special museum exhibits, etc.  Most entertainment news is published or aired on Thursday and Friday.

The local art museums and theatres are among the best in the country. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area has several excellent symphony orchestras and hosts many diverse musical artists.  For outdoor activities, refer to a local map for area parks and lakes where you and your family can enjoy picnics and water sports.  Movie theaters, shopping malls and restaurants are also plentiful and popular in Dallas/Ft. Worth.  Texas is cowboy country, so you may want to attend one of the local rodeos during your stay.  Several professional sports teams call this area home, including the Dallas Cowboys (American football), the Texas Rangers (baseball), the Dallas Mavericks (basketball), the Dallas Stars (hockey) and the Dallas Sidekicks (soccer/futbol).  Tickets are available at each team's sports arena or through Ticketmaster.  You can play individual sports, such as golf or tennis, at municipal courses and parks for reasonable fees.
