GME Policy on Reduction in Program Size or Program Closure

  • The program director will notify in writing any residents that will be affected by reductions in program size or program closure.
  • An attempt will be made to reduce the number of positions over time so currently enrolled residents can complete their training.
  • If Item 2 is not possible, the training program director will make a good faith effort to assist affected residents in enrolling in an ACGME-accredited program in which they can continue their education.
