The research conducted in the psychology division on pain focuses on the etiology, assessment and treatment of chronic pain syndromes such as musculoskeletal pain disabilities, including low back pain and temporomandibular disorders.  The treatment- and cost-effectiveness of the interdisciplinary approach to these chronic pain disorders is being evaluated, as well as individual differences that may predict who responds best to such an approach.  In addition, research on the effectiveness of early intervention at the acute pain stage is being conducted.
