The work of the Biopsychosocial Research Group focuses on clinical health psychology investigations that view physical and mental health disorders as the result of a complex and dynamic interaction among physiologic, psychologic and social factors, which perpetuates and may even worsen their clinical presentation.  This biopsychosocial model has been proven to be more heuristic than the outdated biomedical, reductionistic approach because many chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, etc., cannot be cured but only managed.  Our biopsychosocial research is developing the best management approaches for such chronic disorders.
