1. What is Hepatitis C?
Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis C virus (HCV), which is found in the blood of persons who have this disease. HCV is spread by direct contact with the blood of an infected person. For example, you may become infected with HCV if you ever injected street drugs, received blood or blood products, or solid organs from a donor whose blood contained HCV.
2. What is Hepatitis B?
Hepatitis B is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is found in the blood or body fluids of persons who have been infected with this virus. HBV is spread by direct contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected person. For example, you may become infected by having sex in any form or by sharing needles with an infected person. A baby can get Hepatitis B from an infected mother during childbirth.
