Pathology Fellowship: Molecular Pathology
 Pathology Department
 Pathology Fellowships

 Pathology Faculty
 Residents/Fellows

The fellowship program is flexible and includes training in basic and advanced molecular biology techniques as applied to modern pathology. The fellow would assume significant clinical and laboratory responsibility in a molecular diagnostics laboratory that provides testing for hematopoietic malignancies, infectious diseases, solid tumors, and inherited disorders. Viral quantitation and genotype analysis provide the opportunity for extensive interaction with the infectious disease clinicians and transplant specialists (both pediatric and adult). Development of "real-time" PCR, MLPA, clinical sequencing, and solid tumor theranostic tests is ongoing. Assays for genetic tests include: Factor V Leiden variant, and prothrombin variant analysis. Rotation through other clinical laboratories providing additional molecular testing based on FISH and in-situ hybridization techniques is available. Opportunity exists for collaborative projects with faculty directing excellent research laboratories within the Department of Pathology. The fellow will actively support the resident rotation in Molecular Diagnostics. Numerous student, resident and faculty conferences provide ample teaching opportunities.

Applications:

Applications should be made no later than October 1 prior to the intended fellowship beginning the following July 1.
