Ultrasound, commonly called sonography, is a diagnostic medical procedure that uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to produce dynamic visual images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body. This procedure is commonly referred to as a sonogram or ultrasound scan.

Sonography can be used to examine many parts of the body, such as the abdomen, prostate, heart, female reproductive system, breasts, and blood vessels. 3D ultrasound scanning is the latest evolution of diagnostic Sonography. It combines the safe, non-invasive character of ultrasound with the ability to reconstruct volume modes of the body similar to a CT scan.

Sonography is a radiation-free imaging modality.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has certified Sonography in Aston Radiology.

To schedule your exam:

Call UT Southwestern Radiology at 214-645-XRAY (9729).

Insurance Coverage
Generally, insurance providers do not cover examinations for screening purposes. However, if an examination is medically necessary insurance will typically cover the cost of this procedure. We advise you to check with your insurance provider.
