Notch1 Variants Associated with Cardiovascular Risk
(Reference Number: UTSD:1615)

Description: Human individuals are at increased risks for certain diseases if some predetermined genetic variations, such as mutations or polymorphisms, are present in the genome. The BRCA1 and BRCA2 tests are good examples. This invention described a potential novel test to identify increased risk of cardiovascular disease for an individual comprised of certain Notch1 allele. This test result can provide additional assessment to manage, delay, or prevent cardiovascular events. It also indicates a possible target for drug discovery.
