Entrance Requirements

Applicants to the Biomedical Communications Graduate Program must meet the following requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • Satisfactory grades (generally a grade point average of B), especially in appropriate courses in upper division (junior and senior level) work and in any graduate work already completed
  • Submission of a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Aptitude Test score
  • Submission of a portfolio of artwork

It is recommended that applicants to the Biomedical Communications Graduate Program have an undergraduate major in applied art and design, commercial art or fine art, with a minor in biology or pre-medical sciences.  A major in biology or pre-medical sciences with a minor in fine or applied art may be accepted by the Admissions Committee, as may other majors, depending on the special circumstances involved and the emphasis selected.

REQUIRED Prerequisites:

Art Courses:

Painting (watercolor, acrylic or oil)

Advanced Life Drawing

Advertising Design or equivalent 

Basic Photography

 

Computer Courses:

Word Processing  

Basic skills using a page lay-out program and a painting or drawing program

 

Science Courses: (premedical or predental level)

General Biology and/or Zoology   

Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy

Human Physiology


Chemistry, Embryology and Histology are recommended, but not required
