UT Southwestern's Lowe Foundation Center for Women's Preventative Health Care is a model for the advancement of care for the peri- and post-menopausal woman. The Center is designed to provide specialized care for the woman experiencing the primary and secondary effects of ovarian estrogen deprivation, including bone loss, atherosclerosis, bladder incontinence, hormone-dependent cancers, mood disorders, and other disorders exacerbated by the aging process. The clinical center combines a first-rate multidisciplinary physician team with superb support services and state-of-the-art facilities at both UT Southwestern's James W. Aston Ambulatory Care Center and University Hospital - Zale Lipshy.
Leading the comprehensive Women's Center are Karen D. Bradshaw, M.D., who serves as clinical director, and Bruce R. Carr, M.D., serving as scientific director.
Offering referral services as collaborators in the Women's Center are Craig Rubin, M.D., and Belinda Vicioso, M.D., (geriatric assessment); Philippe E. Zimmerman, M.D., Scott E. Litwiller, M.D., and Joseph Schaffer, M.D., (urinary incontinence and prolapse reconstruction); Karen Kowalske, M.D., (physical medicine and rehabilitation); Margo Denke, M.D., (lipid metabolism and cardiovascular disease); A. Marilyn Leitch, M.D., (breast disease); Rod Rohrich, M.D., (minimally-invasive surgical rejuvenation); David Scott Miller, M.D. and Robert Coleman, M.D., (gynecologic oncology).
With the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology under the direction of Chairman Steve Bloom, M.D., as the point of triage, patient referrals to the Women's Center are coordinated with these talented physicians to the optimal benefit of the patient.
