| General Requirements |

Applicants from LCME-accredited medical schools are given preference in filling externship positions. |
| |
Students must have completed all third-year course requirements and be eligible to start their fourth year at their respective medical schools by the time they begin their externship. |
| |
The externship must be taken for course credit at the student's "home" medical school, requiring a grade/evaluation of performance by their school's registrar. |
| Application Requirements |

(Because of the volume of applications we receive, we will not schedule your rotation until all of the following documents have been sent. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that these have been received by our office.)
- Completed Application Form
- Departmental Checklist
- Medical school transcript - official copy, up-to-date.
- Copy of USMLE Transcript
- Letter of recommendation from your third-year ob-gyn core rotation course director or attending faculty.
- Copy of your immunization record.
- Malpractice Insurance. All students must be covered by malpractice insurance. A letter confirming this coverage is required.
- Print and complete the Essential Functions Form.

Housing

On Arrival
- REGISTRATION - The registration fee is $25.00, and must be paid when the student arrives on campus.
- PARKING is available on campus. An approximate $10.00 fee will be charged for the four-week rotation.
- BEEPER RENTAL - highly recommended. Cost is $12.95 per month plus tax.
- MEALS - Cafeterias are located at Parkland Memorial Hospital, University Hospital - Zale Lipshy, Children's Medical Center Dallas, and UT Southwestern. All areas are physically connected. Meals are reasonably priced.
