The members of our division contribute to research within the department on several levels.  Our philosophy allows physicians to maintain their primary clinical skills, while developing expertise in more specialized interests.  Current pursuits include vulvar disease, female sexual dysfunction, business management of health care, medical student and resident education, and pediatric gynecology.

With this philosophy the division has served as a maturing ground for several of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department's up-and-coming researchers and educators.  For several former division members, this new expertise has led them to full-time pursuit of their individualized interest.  Recently, two such faculty members have made significant contributions to the department in the areas of pelvic anatomy and clinical research in contraception.

As part of the clinical family in the Department of Obstetrics and gynecology, our division members actively add to the myriad of obstetric and gynecologic clinical research projects within the department.  Much of the department's research strength lies in the large patient population seen and served at Parkland Memorial and St. Paul University Hospitals, at the James W. Aston Ambulatory Center, at the Lowe Foundation Center for Women's Preventative Health Care, and at the neighborhood-based Community Women's Health Care clinics.  As significant providers of patient care at these sites, our division members contribute substantially to research data collection.
