The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas is a multifaceted academic health science center nationally recognized for its excellence in educating physicians, biomedical scientists, and other health-care professionals. The medical center encompasses UT Southwestern Medical School, UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and UT Southwestern Allied Health Sciences School. These three coordinated but separate components interact creatively on the problems of human health and well-being.
UT Southwestern's activities are directed toward four goals: educate future health professionals and scientists; remain at the forefront of biomedical research; provide compassionate, scientifically based care for the sick and preventive care for the well; and provide a continuum of medical education for practicing physicians and medical scientists. UT Southwestern trains more than 4,200 medical, graduate and allied health students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows each year.
