Who's on staff with the UTSW EAP?
Patrick Tiner, MSW, LCSW
Director of EAP
Mr. Tiner has been the Director of EAP Services at UT Southwestern Medical Center since 1994. He has been in the employee assistance program and managed health care field since 1981. He conducts regular workshops and training for professional clinical practitioners, law enforcement agencies, universities and corporations on such topics as workplace violence, critical incident stress debriefing and mental health reactions to trauma. He is state licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW), chemical dependency counselor (LCDC), and a marriage and family therapist (LMFT). Since 1976 he has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers and active with the local Dallas Branch and the Texas Chapter. Since 1985 he has served as a volunteer with the Dallas Chapter of the American Red Cross as the disaster mental health coordinator.
Carey Speer, BS
EAP Program Manager
Ms. Speer is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station with a background in Psychology and Sociology. She has been an EAP Training Specialist and, currently, the EAP Program Manager for the last 7 years. For the last decade, she has been a part of the University system and particularly enjoys working with employees and their family members. Her interests include promoting employee health and wellness, connecting with community businesses and resource leaders, and building affiliate provider relations.
Louise Foster-Wilson, MA, LPC
Clinical Case Manager
Ms. Foster-Wilson is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University, and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She has been employed at UT Southwestern since 1986. She has been in counseling since 1992, with 8 years experience in the EAP field. Specialty areas include bereavement, sexual abuse, child and adolescent counseling with emphasis on ADD/ADHD, mood disorders, critical incident stress debriefing (CISD), marriage and family counseling, chemical/substance abuse therapy, supervisory consultation, case management, EAP trainings, orientations, and individual counseling. She has a special interest in Women’s Issues and Christian Counseling. She is a member of the Texas Counseling Association and a Board Certified Professional Counselor through the American Board of Professional Counselors (ABPC).
Leslie Fetchen, LCSW
Clinical Case Manager
Leslie Fetchen received her Masters degree from University of Texas at Arlington, and is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She has experience in a variety of areas, including: crisis intervention and suicide assessment, grief and bereavement counseling, and helping people cope with caregiver fatigue as well as the effects of long-term chronic illness. Ms. Fetchen also has a special interest in stress management and wellness, and has received training at the Mind/Body Medical Institute at Harvard. Leslie is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and is a Certified Oncology Social Worker through the Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW). She has been an employee of UT Southwestern since 2006.
Karen Johnston
EAP Intake Coordinator
Ms. Johnston has been assisting University students, faculty, and staff for the last 10 years. She is the primary point of contact for EAP clients when they call the EAP Intake Hotline, and she often serves as a liaison between employees and EAP affiliate providers. Her favorite aspects of her job are the opportunities to "be present" and to offer help to others.
